Year 7 Able Student Programme

What you need to do.....

Well done to the following students who are on the Year 7 Art Able Student Programme this Year. We would like you to do one extra piece of work a term, or attend the lunchtime activities that are being set (details below) or both!

Good luck, and we hope you enjoy the programme

Able Student programme

We are providing all Key Stage 3 students with the opportunity to enhance their creativity and skills in their Art by running an Art Club on Monday and Tuesday lunch times from 1.10 to 2.00 pm. During this time your child will have the opportunity to liaise with the Art teacher and experiment with a variety of mediums such as paint, printing, collage and drawing. We very much look forward to your support in this initiative.

More Extra work? Log on to any of the following websites

www.artattack.co.uk

Look in the art attacks section. There are a huge amount of practical activities to choose from. We particularly like the aluminium figures, (This is a sports specialist status school after all) or make a dough face or a pet dragon!

www.pilkey.com

A number of our Year 7 students are big fans of the 'Captain Underpants' books. This site will tell you about the artist and show a number of his initial drawings and sketches, including advice on how to design a book cover.

www.crayola.com

Have you ever been given a pack of crayons that you don't know what to do with?. Find the perfect project for an artistic afternoon at home. There is also a 'work out your other IQ' (which your parents may be interested in) in the art of childhood section.

www.artlex.com

This is a comprehensive visual dictionary of more than 3,000 art terms, along with illustrations, pronunciation notes, and quotations. The index section is fantastic for research work, particularly if you are studying a particular artist or art movement. (much better than Google)
