Year 8 Art Able Student Programme
What you need to do.....
Well done to the following students who are on the Year 8 Art Able Student Programme this Year. We would like you to do one extra piece of work a term, or attend the lunchtime school activities that are being set (details below) or both!

Able Student programme
We are providing all Key Stage 3 students with the opportunity to enhance their creativity and skills in their Art by running an Art Club on Monday and Tuesday lunch times from 1.10 to 2.00 pm. During this time your child will have the opportunity to liaise with the Art teacher and experiment with a variety of mediums such as paint, printing, collage and drawing. We very much look forward to your support in this initiative.
Art Nouveau
Find examples of Art Nouveau work. The following website has some very nice modern examples and is particularly interesting for any students who are interested in Fashion Design: You will need to press the British flag logo on the top right hand side to start with to change the text from Spainish to English
This is a comprehensive visual dictionary of more than 3,000 art terms, along with illustrations, pronunciation notes, and quotations. The index section is fantastic for research work, particularly if you are studying a particular artist or art movement. (much better than Google)
Autumn Term Project 1: Lettering and Graffiti Project
Have a go at creating your own name in a graffiti style. Make it as personal as possible. Go to www.graffiticreator.net which will do all the hard work for you. The following websites will also give you some ideas:
www.flamingtext.com. This website is excellent for developing unususl styles of lettering for any project work (Not just art)
www.graffiti.org Has picture galleries which you may want to copy or which may inspire you to do your own thing.
Do all this work in the back of your sketchpad. If you want to print and you can't access a printer, save your work on to a disc, and give it to your art teacher.
Graffiti artists are fantastic at the following: Blending and shading with colour, using stencils, and making letter forms look solid. They are also very creative. What do you think?
