Souled: See the Pictures here (Large ppt file)

Souled is based upon Christopher Marlowe’s classic Elizabethan play, Dr. Faustus. It follows the story of Jonathan Faust as he sells his soul to the devil in return for all his heart’s desires. Faust believes he has the whole of his life to enjoy his new found powers, however, he has unwittingly signed a contract that says the devil may claim his soul earlier should he commit the seven deadly sins. Will Jonathan Faust resist?

This new version brings a modern take on this classic play, adding contemporary music and a whole range of creepy, devilish characters and a good smattering of comedy caricatures for your entertainment. Souled involves over 50 students and staff who have been working tirelessly since September to bring this production to fruition.

In the production I played sloth which is one of the seven deadly sins and basically my character is really lazy and is the first sin that Faust falls to after trying not to commit the other sins and in doing so does nothing and becomes lazy.

Originally I just put on a really dopey voice but in the dress rehearsals it was decided by the teachers that my voice was too boring and would put the audience to sleep. So we decided to spice it up with a little Rastafarian flavour using the stereotype of a laid back Jamaican to portray sloth.
