Music Department
A Level Music Technology
Newly on offer from September 2009, sixth form students follow the EdExcel syllabus for Music Technology AS and A Level.
The GCE Music Technology specification involves much practical work and encourages the cultivation of a wide range of skills. Students will have the opportunity to sequence MIDI and audio, record live instruments, produce CDs and compose using music technology. They will also build an understanding of the technical processes and principles that underpin effective use of music technology, and comment on it in writing.
Lessons centre on learning practical skills in sequencing, recording and listening. All music covered dates from 1910 onwards, and includes Blues, Jazz, Rock, Punk, Pop and Club dance music. All pupils are supported in learning an instrument to enable them to access the performing and recording sections of the course more easily.
