Expressive Arts
This has been another very busy and rewarding year for the Expressive Arts Department.

The Music Department ran four separate concerts this year, which showcased a wide variety of instrumental and vocal talents from many of our students.
ICT is a growing concern within the music department, with one area now being set aside for music technology, which we hope to run at AS level from next year.
There are growing links with the University of Hertfordshire regarding the music courses.
The Department successfully bid for and ran a Gifted and Talented programme which allowed Year 9 students across the St. Albans Secondary schools to participate in a master class ran by two art teachers at the school. This has allowed the Department to invest in Batik equipment. The results, which were featured in a very well attended Summer Exhibition, were stunning.
The GCSE Art Exhibition this year featured the work of 60 students.
The Art teachers, along with a very gifted PGCE student and pupils from the Year 8 Able Student Programme painted four very large angels for the hall, which will be installed early next term.
The Art Department have been involved in the local community with a number of our students being involved in a pavement drawing competition ran by the local youth council, which raised money for charity. One student, Dianne Marcos, has reached the National finals by winning her age group. Year 10 students also attended a workshop at the Margaret Harvey Gallery, ran by the artist Graham Seaton.
Visits to a range of London attractions continue to be very popular and are excellent educational opportunities taken by a great number of the students. Year 10 art students have visited the Tate Modern and the British Museum.
