Two talented artists get to grips with river basins, terraces and interlocking spurs.
The students also took lots of photographs.
Then it was on to careful measurements of the upper part of the River Tordera.
The field guides were with us for much of the time, and were excellent.
The width, depth and flow of the river was carefully measured. All this information was compiled back at the hotel during further study sessions.
The second day involved visiting four sites in Barcelona to study the impact of urban regeneration, where the students collected data from a number of different areas of the city, tried out their Spainish and listened intently to 'Dutch' Derek, another of our tour guides.
In the afternoon the students visited the 'Nou Camp' stadium, the largest football stadium in Europe.
On the third day the students visited the limestone caves at Collbato and the monestary at Montserratt, which included a cable car ride. The argument over queue-jumping with some of the locals on the way back down proved to be the highlight for many.
