Award in Digital Applications

Nicholas Breakspear School offers gifted and talented students in year nine to trial the vocational award in digital applications qualification.

AiDA is a revolutionary new paperless qualification designed to equip students with relevant, practical and transferable IT skills. It is unique in its course content and exam delivery; it is designed to equip students with the skills required by the highly competitive workplace.

What will I do?

You will study one unit: Using ICT.

This will cover a range of applications including word processing and DTP, spreadsheets, presentation software, website software, artwork and imaging software.

To include:

Plan and manage a project

Gather information from a variety of sources e.g. conducting a survey

Collate and analyse data to produce information e.g. creating a database, database reports

Present and communicate information using, for example, a formal letter, leaflet, web page, report, presentation

Present evidence in an e-portfolio

Review the project

How will I be assessed?

This course has a ‘paperlessÂ’ assessment.  This means that the work you produce is done on screen and linked together to form an electronic portfolio of work or e-portfolio.  This is based on an assignment that is set by the exam board, which needs to be completed in a classroom environment and takes about 30 hours.  This type of assessment replaces any exams.

At home?

You will need to complete some of the assignment in your own time.  You can use the websites opposite for guidance on the different AIDA components
