The library is also known as the LIC (Learning & Information Centre)

The LIC is run by Ms Warman and Mrs De-Bellis.

You can borrow 2 books at a time, for 2 weeks at a time.

The LIC is open before, during, and after school. You may also use it during lessons if a teacher sends you.

Everyone is welcome to use the LIC, but this is subject to the time of day, what else is happening in the LIC and how you behave whilst you are in here. Scroll down this page to see the code of behaviour.

All year 7 and 8's have regular lessons in the LIC were we have time to do silent reading as well as practice our independent research skills.

You must ask to use a computer.

Fiction books We have a huge range of stories for you to read. The fiction section is arranged alphabetically in order of surname e.g. if you are looking for 'Twilight' you would look under M for Stephenie Meyer.

We do not say that certain books are for certain people. However we put stickers on some of the books to help you make a decision about what is appropriate for you:

Books with green stickers are slightly easier to read. Books with yellow stickers are harder to read, or have adult content or themes.

You can search for particular titles, authors and keywords using the ALICE computer program. Log on to a school computer, and go to Start / programs / Library / ALICE.

Non-fiction books The information books are arranged by a code called the ‘Dewey Decimal System’. Similar subjects are next to each other on the shelf, and each subject has a special code from 001.9 to 999.9.

You can find the codes you need using the yellow subject index, or the ALICE computer program. Log on to a school computer, and go to Start / programs / Library / ALICE.

Please tell us what you would like us to buy.

LIC Code of Behaviour

It is important in such a big, shared space, that we respect other people’s needs. Therefore the LIC has a strict Code of Behaviour. There are consequences if you do not follow this.

Pupils will respect the staff, resources and space. Pupils will refrain from eating or drinking. Pupils will keep noise level to a minimum. Pupils will leave bags and coats outside. Pupils will behave calmly and politely. Pupils will be productive in the LIC. Pupils will follow any instructions given by LIC staff.

and remember: normal school rules apply.
