How to Research
It's not always easy to work independently to get your homework or research done. These pages should help you on your way.
STARTING YOUR RESEARCH (PLANNING)
Do you understand the question? Think about whether you have to explain something, or give opinions, and how you can get top marks. Do you know what you need to do to get your marks?
• Some coursework has to be typed, some has to be hand-written.
• Usually it has to be in for a certain day. Try and get it finished a few days before you are meant to.
• Do you have to show your sources in a bibliography? (Do this as you go along!)
Do you know what you are looking for?
Think about your KEYWORDS.
Your KEYWORDS will help you with search engines like Google, and using indexes in encyclopedias and books.
Do you know where to look for what you need?
Remember: different sources are better for different tasks.
A quick look at Wikipedia might help you get an understanding of your topic, but it isn’t always that reliable because anyone can write on it. Make sure you follow up with more official websites.

PRESENTING YOUR RESEARCH
Think about how your teacher asked you to show what you have done.
Does it have to be in a particular format (e.g. essay, poster, presentation)?
Does it have to be a certain length (e.g. particular number of words or powerpoint slides?)
Did it have to include certain things (contents page, bibliography)?
