Catholic Ethos
Our Catholic Ethos

"Students enjoy coming to the school and develop good personal qualities. The Catholic ethos is very positive and students of all ages are enthusiastic about their school. Students are friendly and show respect towards each other and the staff. Behaviour is good in the classroom and around the school." (Ofsted 2006)
The role of the Catholic school is placed within the missionary activity of the Church. Its main purpose is to educate young people and in the process catechise them. Catechesis is a growth in faith, a conversation between those who share the same faith. A Catholic school is not alone in its task as it can only hope to succeed if it works in partnership with parents and parishes.
All departments within a Catholic school are involved in education, forging links between the home, parish and school. Each department incorporates the mission statement of the school in its philosophy, aims and curriculum and strives to exemplify Gospel values, upholding the ethos of the school.
The Religious Education department, because of its theological and educational training, plays a major role in the moral and pastoral areas of school life. It helps in the formation of whole school policies such as Sex Education and P.S.H.E. and offers advice to the Governing body in the execution of its responsibilities in such areas.
