Pastoral Care
"The school has a strong and effective Pastoral System which gives close guidance and support to all pupils" OfSTED Comment

At Nicholas Breakspear, each individual student is valued as a unique individual. We know our students well and they are happy here. A tried and tested system of pastoral care, based upon sound relationships between students, parents, form tutors and heads of year ensures that each student has a supportive environment in which to flourish. We keep parents informed with regular written and verbal reports. Our "Open Door" policy ensures that no problem is ignored or allowed to get out of hand.
We address behaviour issues through a strong pastoral system and clear line management responsibilities. The PSHE programme at Nicholas Breakspear addresses the topics of Bullying, Racial Discrimination and Gender issues at various stages through a student's career. Expectations of behaviour are set out in our Home/School Agreement and Code of Conduct. We are always willing to speak to parents with any concerns.
"Students justifiably say they feel very well looked after, safe, valued and respected" (Ofsted 2006)
There are written policies on Behaviour/Bullying, Equal Opportunities, Racial Harrassment and Behaviour Management.
The school records and administers an individual student's behaviour and produces informative analysis of whole school behaviour trends. Parents have access to information about their son/daughter when they meet with the Head of Year.
