For Parents
Academy Status
We are delighted to announce that as of Thursday 1st March Nicholas Breakspear School has been granted Academy Status.
Things have moved very fast on the Academy front. The school received ministerial consent to proceed with conversion over three weeks ago and we are part of the first wave of Diocesan schools who have achieved this new status.
We would like to thank the whole team within the school for the enormous amount of legal work that was required to be approved and put into place.
We are looking forward to the freedom that this new status will bring to the school. We also look forward to working with new providers and partners as well as the additional financial flexibility that goes with the Academy programme.
The headteacher Phil Jakszta stated: "I would like to thank all of my colleagues, both in school and at Westminster Diocese, who have worked very hard to achieve our goal as well as the parent body who have expressed their support for this change in school status."
Foundation Governor, Ray Anderson, stated during the celebrations which took place on the Thursday afternoon: "This new status provides the school with a real opportunity to secure further developments in teaching and learning for all our students."
The new era provides the school with the opportunity to further improve outcomes for our pupils and demonstrate that greater autonomy provides the added value required to achieve higher education standards for all.
