Sports College
Overview
"The school has a strong tradition of sporting and cultural activities." Ofsted comment

Being a specialist sports college has had a number of dramatic effects on the school. We have recently opened a new human performance laboratory where we teach numerous theory courses, including GCSE PE, GCSE dance, BTec First, and BTec National Sports courses as well as A level PE. There are 25 ICT stations, analysis equipment and cardio-vascular training equipment.
We are now an accredited Healthy School. This means that we have improved the food in the canteen and banned vending machines which sell crisps, chocolate and fizzy drinks.

Student and staff physical and mental well-being is becoming a priority. We are developing close links with many local leisure clubs and providers to enhance our student experience in lessons and during out-of-school learning.
We have created and embedded a culture of student responsibility and leadership, so all members of our community benefit.
We run an extensive out-of-school learning programme for boys and girls of all ages with a dual emphasis between offering competitive opportunities for students and participation experiences in activities as diverse as football, trampolining, dance and watersports, including sailing and dragon boat racing.
